Welcome to the 16th ESIL Conference in Stockholm

You can register here

The organisers proceed from the assumption that on-site participation will be possible. The Swedish government announced on 27 May that restrictions will gradually be lifted; it is expected that restrictions for public events, such as conferences, will be repealed by September. (This decision can be revised, depending on the situation.) Stockholm University will take a separate decision regarding the use of its premises, taking the circumstances on campus into account.

The Aula Magna is a large venue with 1194 seats, which will enable social distancing for those participants who so choose, and it can take 300 participants even with statutory distancing requirements.

We will continue to post relevant information on the conference website, but each participant has to make an informed decision about whether and how to participate.

Upgrades, downgrades, reimbursement policy

At registration, participants will get the option of on-site or online.

For those participants who choose the online option, it will be possible to “upgrade” to on-site until 15 August. (This deadline may be moved forward, if conditions allow.) If restrictions as to the number of on-site participants apply, priority will be given in the order of registration for on-site participation.

For those participants who have chosen the on-site option, it will be possible to “downgrade” to online until 15 August. Reimbursement of the registration fee will be possible until 15 August.

If your publishing house or organisation is interested in hosting an exhibition space at the conference, either onsite or online, or both, please contact the organising committee at esil2021@juridicum.su.se.

Cancellation policy

The local organising committee reserves the right to cancel the conference in case of natural disaster, pandemic, strike, government regulation, or any other unpredictable event making it impossible to hold the conference. If a conference is cancelled, the local organising committee will only be responsible for reimbursement of the participant´s registration fee.

Travel grants

In order to further increase and support participation in the Society’s activities, the ESIL Board has introduced measures such as travel grants for members from middle- or low-income countries and carers’ grants for members with parental or other caring responsibilities. More information regarding travel and carers’ grants can be found here.
